Some mini book reviews
The Late Lamented Molly Marx by Sally Koslow
I really enjoyed this book about a woman who is deceased, we get to see what's going on with her family currently, how they are dealing with her death, look back at her memories and find out who killed Molly. The actual who did it is really a small part of the book. This book was well and engaging. I liked Molly, hated some other characters okay mainly the horrible, cheating husband and his lady friend. Somehow I found it in my heart to forgive Molly for her indiscretion. Funny how that works. I liked that this book really kept my attention and moved along. Of course, I wanted to hit rewind, fix Molly's life and let her keep living.
Grade A
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith and Jane Austen
I really tried to like this book. I love Pride and Prejudice. I like brain eating zombies. Why not mix up the two? It could be fun? Maybe? Not so much. I had a hard time even finishing this book. I didn't enjoy it. I just thought why? The worst thing is now that this book was a big success, its' started a trend, now there's a Sense and Sensibility with the swamp thing so some such nonsense. And I am not some literature snob but really it just seems wrong.
Grade F
The Court of the Air by Steven Hunt
I have been drawn into the world of Steampunk mainly because I love some of the artwork and fabulous costumes, I've seen that are inspired by it. So I decided to delve into mostly unfamiliar territory of science fiction. Sometimes I like it (Catherine Asaro) sometimes I am dazed and confused and can't even finish them. I enjoyed this book though I did have trouble staying interested at times. This is the story of two orphans who are being hunted, a violent government overthrow, a who can we trust story line, a communist and dictators are bad theme. My favorite were the steammen something much more interesting in a robot.
Grade B
Okay that's enough for today. I am currently reading Little Giant of Aberdeen County and so far am loving it. What are you reading?
